Alabama Farmers Cooperative readers include commercial farmers-crop and livestock, timber & tree farmers, horse owners and breeders, landscapers, beekeepers, weekend farmers, serious gardeners, and homeowners. The sale of livestock and livestock products account for roughly 80% of the income generated on Alabama farms, with sales of crops accounting for the remainder. Alabama 's livestock and animal products include chickens -particularly broilers (young chickens used for food), beef cattle, eggs, hogs, milk, catfish, goats and rabbits. The state's leading agri-businesses is forestry, chief crops are greenhouse and nursery products, peanuts and cotton. Other crops include hay, soybeans, com, wheat, potatoes, oats and sorghum.
