    Let's Talk About Stuff.

Our goal in posting our blogs is three fold: To introduce timely industry news that is relevant to our clients; to post items we find interesting and entertaining, and finally, to give you a glimpse of TSW US “Behind the Curtain”. We take the business aspects of what we are doing very seriously, but we like to have fun, hopefully that shines through here.

Our Blog is a puzzle being assembled. Sometimes the individual pieces of the puzzle don’t look like the whole picture once completed – You have to keep adding pieces one at a time to make the image clear. We hope you keep coming back to see how the TSW US puzzle takes shape.

Wit & Wisdom Wednesday Mark Twain on the Majority

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” Mark Twain

It's Wit & Wisdom Wednesday at Elarbee Media. Mark Twain offers us both on a platter with this quip about embracing the majority. His wit is timeless because it reflects on the nature of people, not on specific issues.

What does this have to do with business? If you are doing what everyone else is doing, you need to pause and reflect. In marketing innovation is crucial. Keeping up with the pack means you are already behind. If everyone is doing it, the competitive advantage has already passed. So how do you embrace new opportunities without throwing money down the toilet? Test. Test small and test often. Test odd and innovative channels. Test.

Art Tuesday Farewell to Our Old Office Themes

12/02/2014
It is Art Tuesday at Elarbee Media. When we first set up this office space, we created offices using unique color palates. The "Black and White" office has pops of red, the "Tiger" office is brown and orange, and the kitchen is acidic green.

We are excited to announce that we will be upgrading our space and expanding our offices at the first of the year. Before we leave here, I will be posting "Farewell office!" shots of each of the different color schemes.

Moving is an adventure, and always an opportunity for growth as well as editing. We cannot wait!

It’s Cocktail Friday at Elarbee Media. Today we have a full day photo shoot for our client Black Creek Precision. Here is a fitting cocktail recipe for today “The Smoking Gun”. We’ll save this for later to be safe.

The Smoking Gun
Two notoriously assertive ingredients—scotch and Fernet Branca—balance each other out in this flavorful after-dinner sipper. “It’s a drink you can hunker down with,” says Mark Allen. “I love how it has such a warming effect, even though it’s served ice-cold.”

2 oz. Islay or other peaty scotch (Allen uses Laphroaig 10-year)
3/4 tsp. Fernet Branca
1/2 tsp. brown sugar cordial (see below)
2 dashes Fee Bros. whiskey barrel-aged bitters
Cracked ice
Tools: mixing glass, barspoon, strainer
Glass: small scotch or cocktail glass
Garnish: mint leaf

Stir all ingredients and strain into a chilled glass. Garnish.

It can be so much fun to work outside of your comfort zone. Today's photo shoot was one of those lucky days. Today, the Elarbee Media team learned quite a bit about flag protocol in advertising, verifying that the magazine you have in your staged shot actually matches the caliber of the weapon, and volumes of information about tactical weapons as a category. We have some great raw material to work with. Look for our new full color ad campaign launching in Shot Show issues of tactical title

Wit & Wisdom Wednesday Warhol on Art and Business

“Being good in business is the most fascinating kind of art. Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art.” Andy Warhol

Stunning as it is, Andy Warhol, pictured here in a cowboy hat, has one of the most remarkable business quotes out there. Unashamedly capitalistic in his approach and certainly talented, he nails it with language. And who doesn’t envy his approach to hair-styling?

Art Tuesday Leaves and the Power of Color

11/18/2014
It’s Art Tuesday at Elarbee Media. “Leaves” is a black and white etching, that is then over-painted. Atlanta artist Marjorie Bowers achieves a photographic effect with her extremely detailed execution. Her pop of red makes the background almost “feel” frigidly cold, a perfect match for our weather here today.

In advertising, color also makes a huge impact on response. Focused color to enhance the call to action and overall color to stand out in a crowded media space are devices of the direct response creative professional. The use of color does create a “feel”, and can also impact brand resonance. Before you jump in with both feet make sure your color choice and placement are tailored to your audience. Focus groups, and small circulation test cells are a must before you align yourself with a particular color. Always keep in mind that there are tones within the colors too. Red is not Red is not Red.
