    Let's Talk About Stuff.

Our goal in posting our blogs is three fold: To introduce timely industry news that is relevant to our clients; to post items we find interesting and entertaining, and finally, to give you a glimpse of TSW US “Behind the Curtain”. We take the business aspects of what we are doing very seriously, but we like to have fun, hopefully that shines through here.

Our Blog is a puzzle being assembled. Sometimes the individual pieces of the puzzle don’t look like the whole picture once completed – You have to keep adding pieces one at a time to make the image clear. We hope you keep coming back to see how the TSW US puzzle takes shape.

Today, April 28th is National Superhero Day, a day to celebrate the superheros that have inspired us. It is also Art Tuesday, so we thought we would have some fun and combine the two.We didn't have any Superhero art hanging around, so we we created some. This mixed media collage on board is 3 dimensional with different tiers in the wood, and it is over-painted to highlight our favorite elements.Sometimes, it is good to get your hands dirty. It gives you a new perspective. This is going up in our break room.

We encourage everyone to get out there and be Super today!

The Impact of Visual Imagery - Rorschach Plate I

One of the most interesting things about print advertising is the impact of the visual on the person viewing it. We don't all see the same things in an image, so it can be difficult to determine in advance how ad images will play out in the marketplace. Sometimes results are surprising as is the power or people's reactions.

The Specialist Works US, oddly enough, has a set of vintage Rorschach Test cards that speak to this very subject. If you don't know what you are looking at you may mistake them for art!

Here is Plate 1. Lets us know what you see.

Apparently not! Check out this 1970 ad where Wrangler goes psychedelic. How impactful is the popular culture on "Brand Departure"? Obviously to get a brand like Wrangler to shift gears, it is a very strong influence.

It is Wit & Wisdom Wednesday at Elarbee Media and this pointed quote from Adam Smith is telling. We are motivated by what is beneficial to us as individuals.

In advertising, it is essential to outline benefits to the consumer. By highlighting how products or services enhance the life or position of the purchaser you create a perceived need. Selling these benefits, serves the advertiser's interests.
